The refurbished buckets are an important part of the mining operation, as they are used underground to transport and handle materials. Each repair addresses wear and damage by replacing the cutting edge and parts subject to stress.
To ensure a strong and durable weld, the steel is preheated to minimize quality deterioration and to enable the buckets to handle the demanding conditions.
We spoke to Anders Karlsson, site manager at VINAB in Gällivare, for a comment on the project:
